Our first on the LMU campus, C19 opened with Niture (Eddie Loyola), followed by Surface 10 and the featured artist Vic Hennegan who's set included tracks from an upcoming release.  The venue, with its central yet private location, offered sweeping northward views of the L.A. basin and a balmy evening mad for a pleasant experience.

Niture (Eddie Loyola) was unable to attend but his friends brought up the PA system.  Mystic Pete did a 15 minute vocal solo and Henry Strange providing background synths, followed by Trace Element (Henry on keys with Laura Escude on Violyn) doing a superb set.  The Draco North (Surface 10 + Sequenox with Phil Williams on guitar) did outstanding mid era electronic music.   Optical Light Pipe and IWT did visuals.  Anyone with film or video is encouraged to submit it.

Many things almost prevented C17 from happening, including technical problems and cancellations. Tom Burbank and Little Plastic Pilots (Sam Nelson) made their Cyberstock debuts, topped off by Surface 10 (Dean DeBenedictis) with Niture (Eddie Loyola) to complete a mostly glitch evening of sounds.  Those laying on the ground saw the Milky Way and an occasional shooting star.

The first Cyberstock to headline five acts, this show's success was due largely to the efforts of Sequenox's Jim Cowgill and his visual associate Chuck (Optical Light Pipe) who provided the power and much of the logistics.  A spectacular desert lightning show over the Palm Springs area was clearly visible and added to the computer visuals and occasional shooting star.

Cyberstock 15, Saturday July 31, 2004 at Corral Canyon, Malibu

Three new acts highlighted C15.   Appogee (Jay Skinner) complimented his half-soft and half hard synths with electric guitar, while Dream Electric (Aaron Rob) did a beautifully melodic set.  Phthalocyanine (founder of the Phthalo music label Dimitri Fergadis) closed out the night with his mechanized but highly innovative IDM style of rhythmic beats.

Four acts of mainly laptop-produced synth music highlighted this show with Surface 10 and camerman Charlie Parker doing visuals.  The Luxury Tax duo provided energetic digital anarchy, while Zygote did his cooler synth style.   Constant Flux hit his keys with melodically mechanical precision and Surface 10 topped off the evening.

Cavestar (Kevin Crosslin) opened with ambient trip hop, then Subversive Element (Jim Goetsch) did an urban style, followed by Mr Soon (Joe Jakob) with an ambient yet explosive edge, and finally Surface 10 combined with Polyrhythmic label's DE3 (Dan Guilfoyle).  Graphics were provided by Thomas Ronkin via laptop with Surface 10 and camera images by Charlie Parker

The Slum Angel opened with a 30 minute Drum & Bass power set with music samples by Jega, Arc, Biosphere & Klaus Schulze.  Custom graphics featured 2D compositing of images by Thomas Ronkin and a 3D Escher House and various 3D space fly-throughs.  Surface 10 followed with more high powered music and graphics.

The Slum Angel opened with a power Drum & Bass set inspired by the "Hyperactive" Lp complilation with music samples by Dead Can Dance, Talvin Singh and Steve Roach.  Graphics included a 3D Escher House fly-through and 3D moving version of Roach's "Structures From Silence" cover art.  Surface 10 completed the evening with more high powered music and 3D graphics.

This time Thomas Ronkin brought his own sound system which was so powerful that, for the first time in Cyberstock history, authorities arrived & shut us down early in Surface 10's set.  Only a portion of the music and custom 3D graphics were seen, even though Thomas Ronkin's outstanding set had visuals.  He released his 2CD `Symmetry' with excerpts of his performances.

Thomas Ronkin made his Cyberstock debut with his trademark ambient music and Teutonic sequencer rhythms.  Although there were no visuals this year, Surface 10 followed with his own lighting effects including strobes and lasers projected from the rock formations at the rear of the stage.  Fans were also treated to the yearly meteor shower of shooting stars.

George Sarah introduced his high-power Drum & Bass set during the rise of a full moon.  A layer of fog blanketed the lower canyon, then, unfortunately, came up and produced water beads on the keyboards, but no equipment was damaged.  After a short guitar solo by Dennis Tantuico, Dean DeBenedictis played synths with friend Alexis Dyer assisting.

A massive power failure hit several Western States about 3:30 that afternoon.  Everything including traffic signals was affected throught the night, which caused for a light crowd.  Those who attended enjoyed music by Hypnoic label artists Surface 10 and Cathexis (Dean with George Sarah) along with more custom 2D & 3D graphics.

Richard Bugg and his band Cosmic Debris provided a sophisticated sound system, opening with a slow space track and continuing with upbeat songs punctuated by spoken word.  Dean played his outstanding remake of "Phaedra" from the Hypnotic CD 'Tangerine Ambience'.  The evening was laced with highly advanced 3D graphics and captivating shooting star displays.

Our first at this special site in Malibu.   Although there were no graphics, the evening was magical as Phil Williams (also with Xcranium) added guitar with Dean for a set that began during a balmy twilight.  Richard Derrick showed up later for a space guitar set.  As we soon discovered, this area provided yearly shooting star displays along with views across Los Angeles.

Dean lobbied Nels to open this show and he beautifully captured the ambient spirit of the canyon with his guitar 's jazz flavor and occasional innovative outbursts.  Dean's synth set, his first as a solo keyboardist, was accompanied with slightly more sohpisticated graphics.  The beginnings of Surface 10 began to emerge from his musical style.

Fall progressed with this show's cool temperatures and dampness affecting both musical and visual equipment.  Many in the crowd wrapped themselves in blankets while enjoying the music.  Stills and color-cycling fractal visusals accompanied Richard's space guitar set.  Walter Holland, assisted by Steve Leonard on synths, customed tuned their equipment for each track played.

This show featured a free BBQ dinner and the first with visuals.  The stage was located against a debris basin at the base of the canyon.  Raul Sakiputra opened with solo sitar and was later accompanied by Dean DeBenedictis on Keyboards with Johnny Wells on drums.  As night fell, Xcranium played on with graphics, primitive by today's standards, although many were impressed.

This image captures the Cyberstock concept as a fan enjoys the sunset before the show begins.   Others like longtime Alien Air Music fan Chris Johnson drove down from his new home in San Francisco to enjoy the festivities.  Richard Derrick opened up, followed by Xcranium, a band headed by Dean DeBenedicits. The evening was balmy with the night sky of a full moon.
